History repeats itself as Lebanon returns to power vacuum reminiscent of final years of Civil War

Lebanon Daily Star - Lebanon on Saturday was left without a president and plunged into a power vacuum in a bleak reminder of the final years of its 1975-90 Civil War. Incumbent Emile Lahoud stepped out of the fortified presidential palace at midnight on Friday, with no successor in sight after a feuding Parliament failed to convene to pick a new head of state.
